It was ok, I really didn’t find something to enjoy until after we learn more about Zir. Seeing Lois through her eyes made her seem like she liked her life but the whole 3 date things seemed odd.

Then the “hate” between her and Zir never reached a level that made sense. It would have been irritating but there wasn’t enough backstory/history of fiery interaction to explain the hostility and anger that Lois showed. I felt like she was overreacting.

Zir was sweet once she broke through his shell and understood what was going on. And his declarations of commitment were great but I just didn’t like Lois for some reason. And the whole drama at the end felt like just a set up for the next story in the series.

Taz was a sweet addition and it was sort of out of character for Lois to be considering adopting more kids when she hadn’t wanted children? I guess a good man changes your mind.

It was a fun read, it's always nice to read some cultural differences and in this case they acted so adorably about it, it felt great and refreshing. The whole universe they created here is very promising.

Lois, the female human lead, works as a dedicated Intake officer, processing alien refugees. Zir (not his full name), the male alien lead, works in IT for the same department. Lois is sure she and Zir don’t get along but maybe this is a case of cultural misunderstandings…

This story is female lead POV, well written, and an interesting sci fi romance. I do wish it was dual POV - many times I really wanted Zir’s perspective on a situation. I enjoyed Lois’ evolving understanding of Zir’s feelings and goals. I appreciated Zir’s gentle persistence. I enjoyed their growing intimacy and Zir’s anatomy.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary review.

I love this alien office romance book. I like how it's different from a lot of other alien romances since it's set on Earth and the aliens are refugees. The aliens are actually alien with their own culture and special features.

I appreciated the subtle world building and grumpy, misunderstood alien coworker. It's a single POV from the woman. I usually prefer dual POV, but this helped create mystery around the male character.

I wish there were more spicy scenes, but it's a sweet, slow burn romance overall. I look forward to reading more by this author.

dnf around pg. 50. i do not like the writing style, it sounds like a shopping list of various things fmc does. lois did this and then she did that and then she did this and then that and then ... what little you get of the mmc early on is not endearing enough to continue.

Really cute. Total Mr. Darcy vibes. Really abrupt ending, though.

I loved the beginning (parts were really funny!) but the second have just didn't have the same spark. I didn't really feel any chemistry between them, just him (apparently) crushing on her and her accepting him.

I will probably read the next one when it comes out.
