I had some fun with this book. While I didn’t love this book, I did enjoy it.

I enjoyed Gavin’s character and Thea became more likable as the book went on and you got to know her & learn about her past. Their twin girls were also absolutely adorable, and I loved reading the parenting parts with the two of them too.

There was also a good little bit of romance & relationship advice that I didn’t find completely dumb, some refreshing to actually read.

I enjoyed that it wasn’t just the guys fault in this, when it so often is in books and movies. There was blame for both parties because it takes two to make and break a relationship.

*There was sexual content in this book, which is one of the things that I prefer not to have in my books and it did bump the rating down a bit for me.
( chapter 9,18,19,21, & 23 have sexual content and sex scenes in them if you’d like to read the story but prefer to skip over entirely like me)

*Also a good bit of cussing in this, beware if that’s something that bothers you.

I also didn’t prefer the regency chapters of this book, I ended up skimming a good bit of those. I would have preferred smaller slices mixed in.

I don’t typically read this genre but I actually enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

The reason for my rating: some of the things Gavin did were manipulative as fuck and some of the dialogue was waaaaay cringe. The book also didn’t have a ton of bookclub in it for being a book about bookclub lol

I feel very 50/50 about this book.

Part of me can't understand why the guys in the book club would talk the way that they do, it's weird. Aside from that, the idea was good... It simply lacked on its execution a bit. The book club was cool, so my issue is mainly the dialogues. And not only that but some choices of words were crass (? for lack of a better word) and felt out of place.

The other part of me though, was into the relationship of the main characters and rooting for them to save their marriage, work on their problems as individuals and as a couple. I was invested and I enjoyed the characters and plot. I was invested especially in Liv and Mack as characters so having a book for them will be nice, and I'll read it because this series is a fun and entertaining read.
