I’d give it five stars but I didn’t like Thea too much and at times it felt a little cringey but just a little. Really liked the idea of a group of husbands reading romance novels to do better. It was really funny

I tried to go into this with an open mind, but this book just wasn't well written. This had a very fanfiction-like writing style (hearts are just constantly thudding, lips slant over each other somehow) and the minor characters felt very stereotypical (especially the Russian, who was practically offensive to read). These characters talk like they've never met a human and the faux British swearing was so cringe-inducing to read. The main characters were all super manipulative and awful, the pseudo-feminist beats were so bad (the pumpkin spice latte defensiveness was literally embarrassing, I feel like the author is one of those people who wrote big long essays on Tumblr in 2016 about how "basic" is a misogynist slur), and every female character is portrayed in this catty depressing way.

The only thing I liked about this was the portrayal of the main hero’s stutter, which felt well done and empathetic.

This was everything I wanted from a fun, summer romantic read. It really could have stayed tropey and typical, but I love that it gave the characters real issues -- ones that most couples don't talk about or discuss.

Gavin and Thea were so fun to read, especially since it was obvious that they wanted to be together. Watching them learn to solve their problems, to dig into their own "backstories" and choose to be vulnerable, was so riveting; l loved every minute.

As always, secrets tend to spill out, and Thea finding out about the club was inevitable. In all honesty, I felt like she forgave Gavin for pulling his best lines from the book much more quickly than I may have.

All things considered: great concept, fun story, intriguing side characters for future books. I'm excited to read more.

Not my fave romcom but still enjoyable! I love romances about long-term/married couples falling in love again, especially since most books just leave them to a happily ever after. I feel like the main conflict wasn't dramatic enough for what it spurred, and the whole thing was definitely cheesy in some places (but I think it was meant to be that way). I already have the next book in the series so I'm hoping the writing improves. It felt in places like it was trying too hard to be therapy/woke and felt inauthentic - maybe because I don't know guys who think or talk like that, let alone a whole group of them! Spice rating: 3.

I don’t particularly like romance books, mostly because I find them predictable and unrealistic. Though this one was enjoyable, it has the annoying romance troupe or “if you had just communicated, we wouldn’t be in this mess,” and I find that extremely frustrating. If you’re a romance person, this may be for you. If you’re a fiction person trying to find a romance you don’t dislike, I don’t think this will do it for you.
