I had been wanting to read this one for so long and it let me down so badly. The characters were all immature and by the end I still wasn't convinced that the two main characters should be together. I didn't really like either Gavin or Thea and didn't have any reason to root for them as a couple. Gavin still had red flags at the end and Thea seemed like she got over all of her hurdles way too fast. Gavin is a big baseball player yet there was barely any baseball in the story! And when the title has 'book club' in it, you would think that would be more of a focus. The book club angle could have been leveraged waaaay more than it was. There was also some really icky wording which put me off as well - the phrase 'plundered her mouth' was used twice. Blech 🤢

It was a quick listen and definitely a way to pass the time on a long car trip, but I will not be continuing the series.

Legenda baseball Nashville Gavin Scott mengalami masalah besar dalam pernikahannya. Dia baru mengetahui rahasia pernikahannya yang sangat memalukan : istrinya, Thea selalu memalsukan reaksi O kapital.

Gavin kehilangan gengsinya atas pengungkapan ini, menambahkan ketegangan dalam rumah tangganya yang sudah di ujung tanduk. Thea pun menggugat cerai Gavin.

Dalam keputusasaan, Gavin mencari bantuan dari sumber yang sangat tidak umum : klub buku roman rahasia yang anggotanya para pria. Dengan bantuan buku yang sedang dibaca, berjudul Courting The Countess, para anggotanya membantu Gavin untuk menyelamatkan pernikahannya.

Ceritanya agak tidak biasa untuk sebuah novel roman kontemporer, namun sangat menghibur. Pembaca mudah terhubung dengan para karakternya, dan interaksi di antara anggota book club menambah sentuhan humor yang menyenangkan. Novel ini tidak hanya tentang romantisme tetapi juga tentang persahabatan dan dukungan.

Novel ini menyoroti pentingnya komunikasi, kepercayaan, dan memahami kebutuhan pasangan dalam sebuah hubungan. Jika kalian mencari bacaan ringan yang bisa membuatmu tertawa dan terharu, buku ini sangat layak untuk kamu coba.

This did course correct right at the end, but overall we spent WAY TOO LONG acting like everything was Gavin’s fault and Gavin’s problem. This would have been significantly more satisfying if we had been able to see more of Thea’s journey — especially considering not everything on her end was addressed (imo).

Funny, charming side characters, interesting premise…..but the heroine lacked a lot of substance.

Also, as someone who is actually married, the entire plot point of “making a deal to win her back” seemed a little **too** unrealistic. Then again, every character in this book was violently immature so 🤷
