The story progresses very slowly. Even though the killer is mentioned on the blurb, this only takes place at the 90% mark. I also didn't like the ending, I hoped for a different twist.

Gillian Flynn is an expert at writing about unlikeable characters that you still want to read about - it is never a pleasant experience, reading one of her books, and this one might be worse than any of the others in places.
And yet, and yet - the ending is satisfying, as usual, and unexpected - maybe more than it usually is. The main characters - Libby Day, Ben Day, Patty Day - achieve some kind of redemption, and it isn't clear until almost the very end what actually happened and why.

A slow and lurking kind of thrill, I was hooked before I realized it. I’ll definitely continue thinking about this book for the next few days..

Definitely lives up to the name! Sad because ive seen the adaptations of her other work, and I wish I would’ve read the books first! Just a solid dark mystery that is relentless in both the writing and the plot. Never lets you come up for air. Really enjoyed!
