Crying in the club*

*my couch surrounded by my cats.

This book was beautiful and so creative. I’ve never read anything like this series and I have the biggest book hangover I have had for a while.

I wasn't particularly disappointed in the series, but I do think it could have been great and instead was merely very good. The characters are interesting and engaging. The world building is interesting. And it avoids feeling like a rote fantasy novel. Hest's storyline continues to be the weakest. There is so much about it that doesn't fully make sense (both her behavior and that of the Kerrigen-esque leader of the Jurre'lia. It is a sign of how good the rest of the books are that the series survives this wound.
Spoiler Noon's sacrifice at the end was reminiscent of the ending of the Poppy War trilogy, though more optimistic than that.

Wow....I cried at the end. Noon transformed herself from a scared girl to a brave hero. Please do yourself a favor and read this series. Everyone coming together for the final stand.
