I didn’t expect to read a book about Minka, but I liked that now I know why she was so mean in the first book. Niccolaio is this big bad wolf that underneath the surface is just a man that loves his family and wants to be accepted. I liked these two together and how accepting with each other they are. Mostly I liked how Niccolaio wasn’t overprotective with Minka and he included her in mostly every “activity” he had to make. I liked this book a lot more than the first, and I’m excited about Ranieri! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars!

Coming off of Asher Black, I could not wait to start this story. But Parker S Huntington has surprised me with this one! It's different from the first one, introducing Niccolaio to us as he is hiding from a hit on his life. Not your typical mafia story, Niccolaio is not the head of the family in control of everything. Minka is a college student, who is looking for her sugar daddy so that she can get her younger sister out of foster care. When these two cross paths, their is insta -lust. The banter between them is sharp, with a flirty undertone. When Minka's safety is compromised by being seen with Niccolaio, he immediately remedies this by taking her in....24/7. Will these two be able to live together, yet keep their relationship platonic? Throw in the history of Nicco and his younger brother Ranieri, the years of Nicco surviving and being taken in by competing families, and the danger Nicco is in, and this suspense filled story had me on the edge of my seat! Huntington has woven this story with danger, passion and finally love and forgiveness with a happily ever after that left me with a huge smile!

This dynamic narrating team of Lacy Laurel and DC Cole left me wanting more! Lacy portrays Minka with just enough attitude to give her a strong feel, but with her voice is able to have an underlying vulnerability so you can feel her worry, pain and love. DC Cole brings out the alpha, protectiveness in Niccolaio from the beginning, wrapping a warm feeling around my heart every time he spoke. Together they gave this book a compelling narration.

Got pulled into this for the beer bottle scene, and sweet Jesus, was this written by an eighth grader?? The sentence structure, the word choices, the storytelling…middle schooler. Also, we’re gonna have sisters named Minka and Mina? No one saw issue with this?

A great follow-up to Asher Black with really interesting characters and some emotional, poignant moments.

When I saw who the FMC was, I wanted to immediately skip, but I’m glad I stuck around. The overall message of forgiveness throughout this book gave a deeper meaning than your typical enemies to lovers mafia romance. I do feel like this book could’ve included more of the couple actually together and the overall plot felt more rushed and chaotic.

When I started Niccolaio Andretti I wasn't sure how I'd feel. The heroine, Minka Reynolds was in Asher Black and wasn't a nice person...at all. But that is where Parker S. Huntington's fantastic writing comes into play. She totally turned it around, making Minka not only likeable but forgiveable. You understand her actions and she is the best person for Niccolaio. Nick is something else entirely, he's the man that made a decision and is paying for it, it isn't until Minka that he truly starts to heal and enjoy life. He's a total badass. A bad guy for hire for the right reasons. When they come together it's pure enemies to lovers goodness. The sexual tension between them is palpable and you can feel their desire to not taint the other person leaping off the page. But, once they are together, BAM, fireworks and you know it's going to be for keeps.

I loved the thread of forgiveness running through this story. Not just of other people but of yourself. Sometimes the person we are hardest on is the one person that needs our forgiveness the most and that's usually ourselves. Once they're able to start that process they're able to grow as individuals and together.

I'm not even going to pretend I didn't cry towards the end, because, I'm not a liar. Tears, lots of tears. Having read this scene from other character's point of view(because I've been reading backwards and it's a vital part of each story) you'd think I'd be less affected, but, nope. I think each time although it's the same scene because the character's reaction is different it almost feels like a completely different scene and that takes skill...skill that Parker has in spades.

If you like your hero/heroine to be less then squeaky clean then you will love this.
