Good plot, in theory. The sudden onset of the romance without any real build up left a lot to be desired.
cal and quinn are o cute they were made for eachother :)
Officially DNFing this one. I am just so bored reading it and life is too short to waste time reading mediocre books I don't give af about.

Classic Nora Roberts, I didnt get as much chemistry and depth between the characters as some of her other trilogies. But interesting enough to only take me five hours to read.
I will hold my hands up and admit that I have avoided reading Nora Roberts. I don't really have a valid reason for it; I think it might be down to the vastness of her book collection. Yet I was curious; so many people kept telling me how wonderful she was, I knew I had to give in and try one. And I did! Well I couldn't believe how utterly brilliant it was and now I want to read EVERYTHING she has ever written.
Blood Brothers was just my kind of book. Filled to the brim with paranormal elements, unsuspecting frights, suspense, tension and a really hot romance too.
This is the first book of three in the series and I get the impression that all three of the friends fall in love, a different one in each book as the horrors of Hawkins Hollow unfold.
From the first page, I was gripped and compelled to read on. Even with the goriest of storylines giving me nightmares between reads. I was so surprised to find it so frightening in parts - I never imagined Nora Roberts to write novels like that. On reading the reviews, it seems that she is extremely gifted at drawing her readers quickly into a book and definitely an author I need to study more.
The three main male characters are rather swoonsome if not a little troubled. They really do have the world on their shoulders as they prepare for the bad things that will be coming their way very soon. Quinn, the main female character swoops in and changes Cal's life, making him realise that there is more to life than the troubles that fill Hawkin's Hollow. At times Quinn is a little annoying - she was a bit full on for me - very direct and forthright in her nature.
I loved the way the little group of six formed a united front. The way their lives were entwined together; the circumstances that brought about their involvement with each other.
All the characters in the book stood out. I am guessing this author likes to know each and every one's back story, as they are extremely life like in nature, each with their own set of problems and beliefs.
The ending wasn't as climatic as I thought it would be, but I understand why as this is only the first book of the three and I can see that the suspense will only build and build as the series progresses.
I desperately need the next two books now - I have to know what happens next.
I shall enjoy welcoming Nora Roberts into my book collection.

La trilogía la protagonizan Cal, Fox, Cage, Quinn, Layla y Cybil. Este primer libro es el de Cal y Quinn y por supuesto el que cuenta como comienza todo.
La piedra pagana del bosque encerraba un gran mal y al bien que lo contenia, pero estas fuerzas fueron liberadas al amanecer del 10 cumpleaños de Cal, Fox y Cage. Los tres ahora cargan con la culpa y el miedo y además con el deber de terminar lo que comenzó tantos siglos atrás.
Yo amo las novelas de Nora Roberts por que siempre me ofrecen mas que una historia de amor. En este caso es una novela de tinte paranormal, con misterio, suspenso y desde mi perspectiva, terror, ya que la primera vez que leí esta trilogía quedé bastante nerviosita, me parecia que veia cosas por las ventanas... Pero en fin.
La historia de amor de Cal y Quinn se desarrolla muy rápido, podría decirse que peca de insta-love, pero no completamente, al comienzo si se sienten atraidos el uno por el otro pero ambos son conscientes de ello y no pasa de ser pura quimica y tiene sentido que todo comience por ahi, luego ya comienzan a despertarse sentimientos y a tratar de aceptar esos sentimientos incluso con todo lo que esta ocurriendo a su alrededor. Lo que pasa es que todos estos eventos se desarrollan en poco mas de un mes, lo que es muy poco tiempo para estar tan involucrado con una persona nueva, sin embargo las "circustancias especiales" que los envuelven son la razón por la que ellos deciden moverse rápido.
Cal me cae bien, es muy lindo y tierno y todo y es mas que perfecto para Quinn. Los hombres de Nora Roberts por lo general tienden ser protectores y todos unos alfa, pero nunca pasan por encima de sus mujeres, aunque lo deseen o piensen en ello, siempre respetan a la mujer que aman y conocen su fuerza, este es el caso de Cal. Y sus mujeres por lo general son fuertes e independientes, no necesitan de un hombre que les solucione la vida, pero eso no significa que no lo valoren cuando lo tienen y que no quieran sera amandas o consentidas por su pareja, que es el caso de Quinn.
Ellos dos son una bonita pareja y su relación es, dadas las circustancias, de lo mas tranquila, ya que se desarrolla de forma lineal y tranquila sin mayores inconvenientes.
Una frase que me gustó mucho y que para mi dice mucho de lo que Nora Roberts quiere transmitir con sus novelas: "Cuando crezcas, vas a descubrir que no todo el mundo quiere lo que la sociedad le dice que debe querer, cualquiera que sea la moda en boga".
Esto se lo dice la mamá de Cal a él cuando este le pregunta si ella no se siente insatisfecha siendo una ama de casa.
Ahora como la historia principal apenas esta comenzando, todo lo que esta ocurriendo con la entidad apenas se esta vislumbrando, se nota bastante que esto apenas comienza por lo que voy a ponerme con el libro que sigue de forma inmediata.

It got close to 2.5 stars but then that ending happened... that was a let down
