really wonderful! a young woman lives through the disintegration of civil society. i thought i wobbled a bit in the final quarter of the book, but it righted itself in the end. a cautionary tale about how fragile the social contract is and how easily the stress of political upheaval, or for that matter a pandemic, can destroy everything. powerful.

This book was better than I expected! Very sad subject, but I found it really interesting and could feel the pain main character was feeling throughout the whole book. Beautifully written and highly recommend this book!

In één adem uitgelezen. Je volgt Adelaida en haar pogingen om aan het regime te ontsnappen. En daar is ontzettend veel voor nodig. Een beklemmend boek, bijzonder!
