Like everyone else reading this book, expectations were high, after enjoying the Woman in the Window. I enjoyed the book style,as it was like an old–school mystery writer, similar to Sherlock Holmes style of sleuthing. It was very long and it was partially because of the over descriptive way it was written. Somewhat archaic descriptors, as well as mundane details that added nothing to the story except length. I had figured out what happened to Cole, but did not suspect what happened to his mom. I subtracted 2 stars because it was woke.

I bid you farewell A.J. Finn, we must part ways.

An unreliable narrator, a series of family secrets, Hitchcock levels of twists, and San Francisco at its moody best. The book starts slowly but gathers steam.

An amazing mystery, I couldn’t have guessed the ending until it was right in front of my nose! Such a good read!!! CW for self harm and addiction references (just mentions, not too detailed on both fronts)
