The premise of this book was so gripping, and I was executed to read it. But then, this book was confusing and looooooong and slow for so much of it. I feel like the author was throwing in so many other mystery/suspense novel references to impress the reader. But, it just bogged down the plot & confused me.
Spoiler incoming…..
Most people say they didn’t see the twist coming. Maybe it’s because I’ve read so many of my son’s school books lately with LGBTQ characters, but I totally guessed what was going to happen. And I didn’t empathize with almost all of the main characters except Cole. I don’t know, it was just missing something for me.
Then, after I finished the book, I came upon all the news stores about the author’s lies about having brain cancer and lies about his professional experience. That just soured me even more.

This book felt like an ode to classic whodunit mysteries, to deep character development, and subtly deceiving the reader for just long enough. This is not a fast paced, page turning, psych thriller (but in a good way).
I’m trying to decide how I truly felt about this book. Was it a little drawn out? Yes. Did the author likely have a thesaurus next to them while writing? Also yes.
But I also thoroughly enjoyed how wrapped up in the story I became, fully knowing the wool was being pulled over my eyes.
It’s worth the read if you know what you’re getting yourself into.

I thought this book was great, until the end. And then it just tried to hard to surprise us with a totally unrealistic twist given the first part of the book.

What did i just read?!?!?! I enjoyed The Woman In The Window, but this book was mind-boggling. The writing style is terrible, leaving me feeling confused, like what am I missing.??? The ending twist was good, but I was so bored and confused by the writing that I didn’t care about the big reveal.
