I enjoyed the style in which this book was written. The references to other mystery novels and the context within San Francisco (a city in which I once lived) served to make a deeper connection. Also, I thought I knew the plot twist and how it would end. But, I had no clue. I am always excited when a book can surprise me. I will look for other books authored by Finn.

End of Story had all the ingredients for a gripping thriller—an intriguing plot, mysterious layers, and plenty of twists. Unfortunately, the execution fell short. The writing felt clunky and uneven, making it a struggle to stay engaged. While the concept was excellent, the delivery lacked clarity and flow. A large cast of characters further muddled the narrative, many of whom felt unnecessary or underdeveloped, adding confusion rather than depth. With tighter editing and sharper prose, this could have been a standout read—but as it stands, it’s a missed opportunity.

slow-paced

It felt too long and wordy for what it was. The end did have some good twists, but you have to get through a lot of fluff before the satisfaction. I also felt like the number of characters made it hard to keep up with who was who.
