It was slow, but so are a lot of the books it referenced, and as a Christie fan, I thought it was a fun nod. The audio production was pretty good too

I found it a bit slow, drawn out. I also didn’t love the writing style at times. Now, I did find it interesting enough to want to finish it. It’s hard writing reviews like this because I know it’s a matter of opinion. I did not read the authors first book so I cannot compare.

I loved Women in the Window and had such high hopes for this. I was disappointed for a few reasons. The writing style. The author uses very uncommon SAT type words such as nosegay and uxoricide. Luckily, I was reading on my kindle and could look these up easily but it was distracting. The other thing that was distracting was the constantly changing POV and random descriptions that didn’t seem to make sense. The ending didn’t satisfy me either with two of the deaths sounding unbelievable.

I was 2 hours into the audio book and couldn’t finish it because it was so terrible.

3.5 stars. I liked it for pure entertainment value. Kept me turning the pages. Quite give up four stars and Goodreads is silly and won’t let you give things a half star. I did quite enjoy the quotes from all the classic mysteries and sometimes the descriptions were quite eloquent, although could be a bit purply

A fun mystery for a getaway. I really like the premise—a mystery novel about a guy who writes mysteries. And I really liked the main character Nicky—very relatable and likable. Some of the switching perspectives was confusing for me and it made me wish that I’d read more Sherlock Holmes. The ending definitely surprised me. But it didn’t necessarily tie up all the loose ends like I was hoping for.
