There’s a little to much chase in The Chase. For most of the book, Fitz earnestly acts like a guy who doesn’t want to be caught. But a little nudity totally solves that and all his other relationship issues, right?

There was such a great tone of feminism throughout the book, but then there’s some weird shit like admiring a Nazi collaborator, and casual cocaine use.

At first, I was being a total Fitz and taking Summer at surface level - so much so that I considered stoping at about 10%. Then I realized that was unfair, so I gave it a few more chapters and ended up really enjoying Summer as the MFC. Her struggles with ADHD were handled really well and I appreciated the attempt to show her adaptation to alternate learning methods.

However, while I ended up enjoying probably the first 80%, the last 20% just tanked - everything moved at light speed and it all got wrapped up with a pretty bow much too quickly.

this was so cringy i was threatening to dnf just after the first chapter. it read like really bad fanfiction and i deserve to be compensated by all the people who recommended this book.

it gets an extra .5 star because i was simply entertained by how bad it was.

Ugh, really, I can’t with these boys! Why are they all so freaking cute in this series? God, Fitzy is so cute! The hot, dark, grooming nerd from the outside but inside such a softy! He should have opened up to Summer earlier though, although I didn’t like how much Summer was pushing him from time to time. Still, enjoyed this story very much from Summer being labeled as the rich princess, which she never wanted to be and never was, to Fitzy‘s and her slow burn love. Jesus! Took them so long to finally admit their feelings and desire for each other and hurting Hunter in the process. He‘ll get over it, eventually, but I also think that Summer should have shut him down earlier and stop keeping his hopes up and definitely she shouldn’t have kissed him on New Year’s Eve. Anyways, five out of five. Now, can I get my hot, tattooed, painting, video games playing man as well? Thanks much.

I love the Off-Campus series by this author so I figured it would be more of the same, but this one was missing something that the other series had. It attempted to follow the same formula of fun banter, charming characters, and a little bit of serious mixed in, but it still fell a little flat. I didn't really feel connected to the two main characters and the angst was just too short-lived. The smut was fine, but not amazing.

One thing I didn't care for that stood out was how the book contradicted itself. Summer has these moments of talking about how women need to stick together etc, but then contradicts herself with her actions. She talks about how she deserves a guy who wants to be with her and acts like it (which is 100% true), but then still goes for the guy who doesn't treat her that way. This book has a love triangle and I couldn't believe when I found myself rooting for the other guy! It's always obvious who they will end up with, especially in a dual perspective novel, but boy... I was hoping it would be
Hunter who actually treated her like he wanted to be with her. I'm assuming Hunter will get his own book and whatever... he was done dirty in this one.

Also, Fitz has the "not like other girls" trope except it's "not like other boys." Still cringe even when it's swapped. 🙄

It wasn't the worst time and the book wasn't terrible, but I thought it would be up to par with the other series. I did like seeing characters from the other series pop in too. There is rep for ADHD in this one, which was interesting to read.
