A few interesting tidbits but overall the book was a bit too “holistic” for me.

This is the most woo-woo book I have ever read. If you look past the woo-woo there is a decent amount of good reflection for a first time mom like myself

2.5 stars... While there was a TON of great info in this book, there was also a lot that was a bit too woo-woo for me. It could have used stricter editing as well; it was disorganized and in some places Johnson repeated earlier parts of the book almost (if not) word for word, which came off as confusing to me.

Too new age hippie dippie for me. Seemed more anecdotal than factual, which I'm just not looking for in a post-partum book.

Lots of very interesting things presented in this book. I think that women, myself included, focus so much on pregnancy and labor that they forget to prepare for what comes next. And in the marathon that is motherhood I think I'd say that pregnancy is signing up for the race and labor is the entrance fee but postpartum, that's the long haul that we should be training and preparing our mind, body and spirits for. I think that this book is an excellent place to start when trying to prepare for your postpartum journey.

It kinda gave me the ick when she made mention of a lotus birth and went into chakras. If you’re into that kind of thing that’s okay, but that’s not where I am in my journey.

This was more than I was expecting. I didn’t enjoy reading about her horror story I would rather just gotten some facts. Oh well love the facts that were there to help me!
