True story: There’s more than one historical romance with a punny title around the word “Scot.” I *may* have gotten this one confused with another one

Maddie and Logan were definitely my favorite couple of the series so far! I think the first half of the plot was probably a bit stronger than the second, and I wanted a lot more Aunt Thea, but I still thought it had a good balance of humor and emotion.
This actually ate!!! I'll be honest, I was very much judging this book by it's cover - it scared me away for over a year T.T... Both Logan and Madeline have really well developed characters, and I loved seeing how they surprised each other throughout the book. Also Maddy's aunt knowing the whole time!!!? She's such a girl's girl :) Honestly, this was nothing crazy, but it did scratch an itch and I appreciated that the side characters had their own little lives going on at the same time. The setting was super pretty as well <3

Okay I'm finally going to mark this one as finished even though I actually didn't read it to the very end. In my defense, this was a re-read, I hadn't read the story in a while and I'm not sure I'd ever re-read it and I couldn't remember how much I liked it. The answer is not that much. I'm really struggling to see why this is a favourite for so many people, it's nowhere near the best of Tessa Dare's books. I like both the characters well enough, though Logan could maybe do with a bit more depth than just an orphan who's obsessed with getting stability for his men. The whole plot is just a bit one-note for me, and the chemistry/banter between the MCs is not quite at the level it usually is in Dare's novels. There's not as much humour and fun. However, my main frustration with this book is the pacing of the MC's intimacy. Oh my GOD. There is slow burn, will they/won't they and then there is this book where the main conversation between the MCs centres around whether they will consummate their marriage or not but hardly any tension . There are at least five instances where the MCs are kissing or canoodling and then get interrupted, to the point where it stops being entertaining and just gets repetitive.
Overall not a hugely enjoyable read for me, lacked a depth of story and general charm that is usually found in Dare's novels.

GOOD historical romance, so so good. The characters felt real and she has one of the best arcs I've seen in a historical romance. I'm so glad I didn't judge this book for its cover, a 5 star definitely
