General Thoughts: Fourth book of Jagger's I've read. I really loved the first two I have read of his and am even going back and reading the ones that came before in the series that I missed. I enjoyed but didn't love the prior one in this series.
I likewise have conflicted thoughts about this one. On the one hand, Jagger is a great writer. The quality of the writing is always top-notch. His characters are always intriguing and well fleshed out and are ones that pull you in. His plotting and pacing in his stories are also super good. Having read so many of his books, I'm beginning to pick up on some of his patterns. But they still are always gripping. The action and plot is always great.
And the books are always super DARK! The relationships between the MMC and FMC are often very dark and messy and conflicted. Usually, the men are very dominant and possessive. These are definitely books you have to check your triggers on. And for somebody who like me deeply values consent, these type of books can be hard for me. But I know what I'm getting when I open his books. It's not a trigger of mine, but the author is clear on the trigger warnings. If you have no-go's or triggers, check it out.
I think for me, the last two have fallen a bit flat because they felt a bit repetitive and I didn't feel as enmeshed in the characters as before. Or maybe it's just because it featured plot tropes that aren't my favorite.
But for fans of dark mafia romance, this series is great, and I'd recommend it. Curious what the author comes up with next.
Steam Meter: ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 Very steamy sexual scenes.

I had a fun time but this could have been so much better. It felt like they just wanted to write sex scenes which is fine but it doesn't match the vibe of the rest of the series. I wanted more actual romance between them. I felt like there was in the past with the journal and stuff but I don't feel like there was any in the present. There were many opportunities for it but they were not taken until the very end of the book. I still had a good time reading and enjoyed seeing Callie and Castle's relationship from their pov.

I loved this story so much. Deimos and Dahlia’s story was completely addictive, I couldn’t put it down!
There were so many plot twists and turns that throughout the book I was left guessing as to what was going to happen next.
These are two people who hate each other, they met at college but never really interacted with each other until one night where things went wrong and Deimos told Dahlia to leave, and erase herself from his life forever. So when he turns up to his little sister’s 21st birthday party to see that Dahlia is in fact one of his sister’s best friends, things turn dark very quickly!
I think Deimos is my favourite MMC, he’s a psychopath who is so unapologetic (obviously), there were moments at the beginning where you think this man can’t possibly redeem himself but he seriously does. He is a dark man who doesn’t grovel, but you see how his attitude changes towards Dahlia and how his obsession grows and it just made me forgive him for it all!
I felt like these two were made to find each other. They both have their individual trauma’s from when they were young, that shaped them into the people they are today. I loved how they opened up to each other and shared the horrors they’d both been through, and how this further bonded them.
The spice in this book was top tier! There was so much tension and angst between these two that their spicy life is so fiery!
I loved this book so much! This world that Jagger Cole has created is addictive and captivating, I can’t wait to see what he does next.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25/6.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5.
Deimos Drakos. He was the mysterious brother throughout this whole series. We never knew much about him besides what he did for the family and that he was distant and cold so I was very intrigued to get to know him and what he was all about.
This book was different from the others in the series from completely new tropes to haunted vibes and I really liked that. It was a pleasant surprise and I was trying to figure out where everything was going as I was reading.
I loved learning what makes Deimos tick but also why he is the way he is and in the midst of all of that he had also a side that loved his family and I loved that he didn't shy away from telling a member of the family that (when its prompted of course). I also loved how honest he was with himself. He was the type that saw his feeling for what they were and he didn't bulls!!! himself into believing what he was feeling was something that would pass with the next shiny thing.
Dahlia is a very smart woman. She unfortunately gets "caught" in Deimos Ya-Ya's house by the man himself and he couldn't believe his eyes when he saw her but he issued the ultimatum that lead to an arrangement of sorts between them. She is a good girl but likes feeling adrenaline and live on the edge while not doing dangerous stuff because she ain't stupid.
I really loved her for like half of this book but then when it was obvious, to me at least, that 'the one that got away' was in front of her, she still believed otherwise which at a certain I understood why but when Deimos got every k!nk she had right, there was no way she wouldn't know because she only told someone so it was a bit frustrating seeing her being oblivious to it all.
Eventually the third act happens and Dahlia decides to "help" without her phone or telling Deimos and just goes for it. I mean the woman doesn't even belong to the mafia, she doesn't have any training or a weapon whatsoever so why dive right into danger? She couldn't save anyone just with her body... I don't get it and I couldn't look past it because the same things could've happen even if Dahlia took her phone at least or even told Deimos hence why it was even more frustrating because she is really smart girl but this was a dumb move on her part which I wasn't a fan of.
I loved Hades and having him on the page was a highlight for me plus he really gives good advice.
There's Ares & Neve having a "meeting" in Deimos office which was fun, after the fact. There's also Elsa, Callie and Castle who I loved to see one last time.
I absolutely loved this series and it's probably one of the best I've read this year. Someday I hope there's audiobooks for those so that I can reread them all over again.
Venomous Gods series is next and I can't wait! Hopefully Kratos is one of the guys cuz I believe he is the one that didn't have his book yet.
