Great start and end. But the middle was so slow. I almost gave up. The book could be much shorter and concise. I loved the movie better.

The Shining is one of those books that pretty much everyone else had read but that I had never read. Well, now I have finally read it!

I saw the film version with Jack Nicholson forever ago so I knew the basic story going in but the book was better than the film and kept me captivated throughout.

What a take on the haunted house! I can't say anything that hasn't been said before, but you can really feel the eerie hotel from these pages.

Although, as most people who had to stay inside with their families for days on end during 2020 and didn't go postal, I can pretty comfortably say that Jack Torrence ain't shit.
