It took me almost a year to read the next book after the [b:Darkhouse|11356211|Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1)|Karina Halle|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1602888946l/11356211._SY75_.jpg|16286238]. That's enough to show you my level of enthusiasm for this series ... (Not much but I didn't completely lose interest.)
I liked Red Fox more than Darkhouse. While I still can't connect to the main heroine Perry and Dex was still weird, the mystery was better. I liked that Native American mythology was used.
This was very close to 4 stars. Goodreads when are you going to add half star ratings???
Looking forward to the next book. :)

his book had my holding on to the edge of my seat. I LOVE the myth and storytelling involved in this book. Red Fox takes place in the deserts of New Mexico. This book is also our first glimpse at the mysterious Maximus (Friend or Foe?)
As much as the frights of poltergeist qualities, dangerous animals and overall distrusting hosts what keeps me coming back is the evolution of Dex and Perry’s relationship.
“It’s our song,” he said. He held out his hand. I took it, as if in slow motion, and let him lead me onto the dance floor.He put one arm around my waist, holding me snuggly against him. It was a different kind of awkward than it was with Maximus. It was a wonderful, head-spinning awkwardness that made my heart beat out of my chest and my knees turn to putty. He held my hand with his other one and grinned at me, our faces so intoxicatingly close that he grazed the top of my head with the felt brim of his hat. I kept my eyes on those cocoa brown orbs of his. It wasn’t hard. And then…then he started singing along with Joel’s voice. Softly, quietly. I was such a sucker right there and then and he knew it, that bastard. If he wasn’t holding me up, my spine would have collapsed in a warm puddle of blissed-out nerves. He leaned further in and sang into my ear, a deep murmur that sent shivers through me that I tried to contain. Why was he doing this to me?”
Their connection is continuing to grow and lines are being blurred. Not only are the constantly flirting but one of the aspects of the story is the two of them pretending to be a married couple. Que the sexual tension! If the relationship between Dex and Percy doesn’t have you hooked then the crap they get themselves into does! UGH I totally need a valium after that adventure…

omfg! EVEN THOUGH IT WASN'T AS SCARY IT WAS STILL CREEPY AND MAKES YOU THINK IF THAT MYTH IS TRUE.

I picked up the first book in this series expecting something mediocre -- instead, I found something ...not charming, but unpolished in a charming way. Sidesteps the typical ghost story tropes and gets into some scary stuff. Enjoyed the second book as much as I did the first, which is to say, it was kind of popcorn-ey but enjoyable enough to continue.

This was definitely a bit boring compared to the first book in the series, and Dex was less enigmatic and captivating than I recall, but I still like the story Karina Halle is penning and I'll continue. Calling bull on Perry's realization that she's in love with Dex though.Like no, sweetie. Just because he's charismatic doesn't mean you fell in love with him after working with him two times.

As I suspected this series is gonna be one of my favorites! Perry and Dex are amazing in keeping us on the edge of our seats with whether or not they will get together,that along with the hell is going on with Dex, and the mystery of solving what is going on in Red Fox I couldn't put it down.

Ok, first of all, Dex is crazy as a... he's seriously dealing with some issues. I can't tell if he's schizo or possessed or just flat out whacko. What disturbs me, is that I don't care. Dex is definitely my newest book boy crush, mental issues and all. And I just love Perry, though I wish she'd get over her body issues, because obviously she's the only one who thinks there are issues at all. All the guys are checking her out in the bar, Dex has already made it clear he thinks she's... well, whatever he thinks...
This book scared the bejeebus out of me! Way more intense than the first one, though that one was SO GOOD... but this one... GAWD!! There were times when I was shaking. Shaking! Karina is just so good at creeping me the fuck out!

The end of this book actually made me teary. WTF? That was totally unexpected.
It's 2am and I'm exhausted from my marathon reading session tonight, so I will keep this short and sweet.
I feel like I know Perry and Dex so much better now. And I especially loved seeing the more vulnerable side of Dex this time around. Yes, there were times when I thought Perry made some dumb decisions and I wanted to shake some sense into her. But more often than not, I felt empathy for what she was going through. Not just with the crazy circumstances surrounding the mystery they were investigating in New Mexico, but for the emotional roller coaster she has been on since the minute she met Dex Foray. Lord knows that much like he's done with Perry, that man has cast some kind of spell over me as well. If only he weren't a fictional character. And if only i had a dollar for every time I've had that thought! :P
Anyway, it's late and I'm more than a little sleep deprived. So, I will end this short review by stating that I love the EIT series, and I loved the crazy journey that this book took me on.
"Dex," I whispered. "I hope you never stop feeling alive."
I could have sworn his heart skipped a few beats. He tensed. Then relaxed.
"As long as you're around," he said softly, "I'll be alive."

After finishing Darkhouse, I decided to continue the rest of the series immediately. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the first book, but I own all of the books and figure I need to give it a fair chance. Red Fox was better than Darkhouse and a lot creepier. Perhaps I just find the idea of lighthouse ghosts a lot less intriguing than Native American legends.
Perry and Dex were a lot better in Red Fox. They operated better as a team and there was a lot more relationship development, tension, and all that good stuff that keeps me on my toes. The case was creepy and I never knew what was going on. Like Perry, I wasn’t sure if I could even trust Dex. Who could be trusted? What was really happening? And how would Perry and Dex come out on top?
I’m definitely more intrigued now by the two characters and their whole ghost thing. I will continue the series. I’m not sure if I really love or would recommend the series just yet, which is a little disappointing considering most of the fans were in love from book 1, but I’ll keep going.
