Read like a YA fantasy (something I would’ve liked in my early teens) but with an underdeveloped romance plot and sex scenes.
I liked the overall plot and adventure of it all; loved meeting all the various folk on their quest, whether allies or foes. I felt like the book deserved a good map!
But when the first sort of “love confession” scene occurred, I really felt that the relationship hadn’t developed enough for it to make sense.
Also, I figured out who the baddies were early on, but it took our heroes quite a while, which may be why it reminded me so much of fantasy epics for young teens. But then there was the spice, which an older YA audience might be able to handle, but not younger.
Felt like it would’ve been nice to have more wrap-up at the end, after meeting that whole the cast of characters throughout the adventure.
Glad to have a heroine with an “invisible” chronic illness out there, but would’ve like more development of some parts of the story.

I LOOOVED this — read it in one sitting! A fresh, easy-breezy read, and so sweetly done.

This story, despite lacking strong character development and the writing coming across as very basic, was still pretty enjoyable and a nice book to turn my brain off. I really liked how Bianca's disability was written and the casual references to her and other characters being queer. Honestly this was an impulse read for me bc I thought the premise sounded fun so I wasn't expecting it to actually be amazing or anything and the fact that I didn't DNF it proves it surpassed those expectations haha
