Fairly straightforward cozy romantasy - this time the princess has celiac's (they don't ever fully call it that, but there's reference to putting poison in her body and the author mentions it in the afterword), and they haver to try and get her arranged husband crowned while he also turns into a horse due to an accidentally aimed curse. The stakes aren't particularly high, there's no real twists to the plot, you know pretty much instantly how it's going to end. I admittedly ended up sprinting through this at the library bc there was a long line for this book, but at the same time, this ddidn't leave that much of a mark on me.

3.75 rounded up. Not going to lie I originally wanted to read this book because of the beautiful special edition so I went into it wanting to love it to justify owning. Unfortunately, it wasn't great enough to own a copy, but I still enjoyed it overall. It is a fun unique and quirky romantasy. It had all the components of a solid story including betrayal, political plotting, magic, sex, and of course a prince that turns into a horse. It was more relationship focused than plot and a little slow for my taste at times but overall paced well/easy to follow. I found the FMC overall likeable but the MMC was just a little too weak for me making it hard to get into the romance. The romance itself felt much more pure than others though with a lot of focus on seeing the best in each other even when their partner doesn't see it in themselves.

This was soooo cute. The world building was soft, but good enough for a book more focused on the romance. I'd love to read another book in this world to delve deeper into the lore, but it was a nice standalone. This is the second book I've read that has the love interest turned into a horse and idk maybe that's a sign this is giving cowboy romance vibes I've craved.

3.5 Stars
This was a lot of fun and I enjoyed following the MCs throughout their journey but I'm not entirely satisfied with this as I feel like I have so many unanswered questions lol. The romance was cute though it felt sudden but I did really like our FMC Bianca and seeing her character growth.

Thank you NetGalley & Macmillan Audio for the ARC!
