fine, not my favorite goosebumps - but worked for the June prompt and in need of a lighter horror read -

Meh. I just never cared for the first one or this sequel as a kid. Still not a big fan as an adult either. Mummy stories just never did it for me, and I found it pretty boring. A little better than the first one, but not by much.

The sequel was perhaps a bit less fun, definitely a chunk shorter, but a better story overall I think. The main cast and the setting are the same, Gabe is back in Egypt with cousin Sari and Uncle Ben, they're exploring a newly opened section of another pyramid and they're about to make a discovery even wilder than Uncle Ben could have imagined.

I liked the sort of red herring thrown into this one and when the trouble hits maximum the real menace is revealed, unfortunately the Mummy still doesn't want to be disturbed! (Perhaps there's a valuable childhood lesson here)

I enjoyed this enough to wish there was another Mummy adventure in the series.

Another excellent throwback read for me!

I used to binge Goosebumps like they were the only books available on Earth. They are spooky, quick paced, and just all around fun.

In this book, Gabe, his cousin Sari, Sari's Dad and a lot of other adventurers are on an expedition. There's a Mummy's tomb they want to open and see what's inside. But there's a traitor in their mix that is going to mess with this Mummy...

This book was fun and fast paced! Each little cliffhanger, twist and turn was packed full of fun and made it super enjoyable for me. I ended up binging the whole book because it was just so fun! It's not scary to me as an adult, but it did have me on the edge of my seat. I can easily see young horror lovers grabbing this book. It's definitely one of my more favourite Goosebumps books.

FYI - this is the sequel to The Curse of the Mummy, but you can easily pick this book up without reading the last book.

Four out of five stars.
