i loved this. the characters are 3 dimensional and realistic. i loved every interaction that happened between the two main characters in particular. the internal monologue of the main character was funny, relatable, and so entertaining. this is like the female version of A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman.

I like how this novel dealt with the idea of loneliness. Eleanor is not exactly looking for a romantic companion she just wants a genuine connection with someone. I think that is something everyone wants. It’s such a simple human need but yet allowing oneself to open up enough to create a connection is the hardest part. This novel does this. Overall very good novel.

I loved this story, the progtagonists, and the the humor. I deducted a half star for foul language. Find a new "F" word to use, for pity sake!

Check trigger warnings before reading! This isn’t a book I would typically go for, but I liked it more than I thought that I would. It was pretty heartwarming to see the journey of a secluded young woman getting to find herself and find/form loving relationships and come to terms with her difficult past and navigate life. The inner dialogue and utter honesty with which Eleanor speaks truly allows you to understand her and her motivations and mindset. I love how unapologetically herself that she is. It takes a little while to get into it, but I think this is worth the read.

i loved the character development and the discussions of mental health in this story. certainly didn’t expect abuse to play such a big part.

A very smooth read, quite gripping, didn't take too long

Pros:
- the writing flowed nicely and made it easy to read. The dialogue always felt realistic and the story carried along nicely.
- it also had quite an original premise which was executed well and I got caught up in seeing how it would all turn out.
and I'm glad it turned out well

- the side characters, Raymond, Laura, Bob, etc. were all well developed and made it feel like a little slice of life.

Cons:
- Didn't really love Eleanor (though the name didn't help) and while feeling vaguely bad for her, i definitely didn't 'sob and sob' like the one reviewer did. Some bits did hit too hard and just made me feel bad. The tone really reminded me of 'A man called Ove' and it was given to me by the same person. Unfortunately I don't think I'm a massive fan of this type of book really - the reality is too painful for me, too personal.

So I think my main disappoint was that I didn't feel much for the book and I won't be reading it again I'm afraid, though it was good for a break after the complicated 'Ninth house' book.
