As many of you will already know I am a huge James Patterson fan. I came upon this book but soon realised it was actually book ten in a series d'oh. Nevertheless I still read it and then ordered the whole series. Win. Win.
It was such a brilliant read! YA, Fantasy. A world I enjoyed far more than my own at the moment. I loved the majority of the characters especially the angel family. The story focuses on a girl known as hawk she has wings and she is an amazing, determined, strong and powerful character. Along the way she comes under attack, has to save her friends and ends up saving their part of the way to finish off.
I loved the whole setting/world. A perfect YA read which I devoured in less than 24 hours. Highly recommend. I fell inlove with it. I've gone back to the start of the series and currently reading book one. A well deserved five stars. I can see this series going into my top reads of the year. Brilliant. How didn't I know about the series sooner?

When I started this book, I wondered what I was getting into. This is not a typical Patterson book. In the end, it was hard to put down. Easy reading too.

Overall it was alright. I didn't stand up to the expectations of the maximum ride series but it was a good book.

this was a fun action packed book filled with nostalgia for maximum ride fans. wanted to know what max, fang, and the rest of the flock had been up to? this answers it. i do with that there was a bit more information on their relationships/ a bit more development of relationships in general but overal a fun quick read.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! I haven't read the Maximum Ride series but that in no way affected my review of Hawk as the book works really well as a standalone. I very rarely delve into YA and felt this was really just a simple palate cleanser of an in-between book, no convoluted plot to focus on and quick, easy chapters that were pretty bite-sized as per Patterson's usual writing. I didn't find anything hugely exciting about this book but it was a very fast-paced YA action story that I breezed through with no major problems, just no major hooks to catch me either! I enjoyed the characters well enough (though wished for far more development in some) and didn't mind the slightly cheesy vibe of the writing at times. A nice summer read!

I won an advance copy of this book from the publisher, I also never read any other books in the series.

I really enjoyed this book, in fact I read 85% of it in one day. It was an easy read, and kept my attention. I added the rest of the series to my to-read list, because although they are YA, sometimes you just need a snack of a book to read.

The characters and the setting were easy to imagine, and the story flowed well. All in all, I really enjoyed it. In the beginning, I found it very annoying that they used vernacular in the writing (obvs, lol, etc), but it didn't continue throughout the book, but it did show up again at the end.

a fuckin struggle to finish this book lemme tell ya

Hawk is a great continuation of the Maximum Ride Series! You could definitely read it without reading the Maximum Ride Series, for it is technically a new series, but I feel like you would have a much better understanding, foundation, and appreciation if you read the Maximum Ride Series first. I enjoyed following the two perspectives: Hawk and Max. The themes were dark and morbid at times. I liked how the plot steadily climbed. I enjoyed that Hawk's personality is so much like her mother's. I also enjoyed that we have characters from the Maximum Ride Series in Hawk. The book read very quickly. Overall, I felt it was very well written. I would recommend Hawk to Maximum Ride fans.

Overall, coming into the series here instead of the beginning I don’t have the knowledge of the back story. But the book filled it in well enough.

Overall the story kept me engaged enough but the writing style really made it a tough slog. I wasn’t sure I would finish but I wanted to see how it ended. It was good, not great. Not sure if I care enough to read the next book in the series.
