The Iron Queen

The Iron Queen wraps up the Daughters of Zeus series. Persephone has been kidnapped by Zeus and taken who knows where, Hades is well, as mad as hades and search everywhere for her. Demeter, Melissa and Aphrodite are working to round up the rest of Zeus' children. Zeus wants Persephone to swear fealty to him, but Persephone made a vow to do nothing to harm Hades, so she can't; so Zeus continues to torture her hoping she will break, not realizing she can't. At the same time, a large contingent of Zeus' other children are gathered in Demeter's house with Hades working on a plan to save Persephone.

Can Hades come up with a plan? Will everyone go along with it? and will they be able to get to Persephone in time?

This has been an amazingly wonderful, fun mythology romantic book that would appeal to so many readers. It is not anything along the lines of the recent publications that have come out featuring the Gods, this has more romance, but there is a tenderness and a protectiveness to the romance that warms your soul when reading it.

I would recommend the book to anyone who has any faint interest in romance, mythology, fantasy, paranormal or just needing something enjoyable to read.

A great finish to an awesome series.

Okay enough ending for Persephone's story. I don't like Aphrodite enough to continue the series though.

Actual Rating: 3.25

This was a good read. I thought it was slower than the other two books. It didn't give me the same excitement. I thought it was interesting to see the characters interact. I still love Hades. He had this charm about him. He was the most interesting and complex character. However, my favourite is always Artemis. However, I thought there were some moments when I was just bored at. The thing I really liked about this book was the way Kaitlin Bevis was able to incorporate Greek mythology in a unique way. I recommend this series to people who love mythology, especially Greek mythology. I can't wait to read the fourth book. I hope the series gets better and better. Overall, an okay read.

This definitely improved on books 1 and 2.

Kind of lost interest after a while. Great series though :)

Before I dive deep into this review, I must first give out the warning that I read the second book so long ago that for the first quarter of the third book, this book, I had no idea what was going on. Slowly things started to come back to me but I believe that because of this long pause, it took me a while to get into the groove of what was going on. So don’t let this happen to you!

The beginning starts off with a bang and continues as Persephone is captured by Zeus and held against her will while being torture to swear fealty to him. And being that Hades has no idea where she is, what is happening to her, and cannot connect with her through their bond – he is going crazy.

Hades kicks into action, trying to figure out the best way to save Persephone even if it will destroy the earth. Now that is love!

But what I loved about this book is how strong Persephone becomes. While being tortured, she refuses to give into Zeus. She does everything in her power to get away from him and when the gods get together, she surprises them by standing up and taking charge.

On a side note, I thought this third book was the end of this series. However, it left it slightly open for Bevis to write more. I sure hope so because I have thoroughly enjoyed each book.

I was hooked by the first few chapters in the first book and had to have the second and third installments because I just had know what lied ahead for Persephone and Hades....man I feel cheated. I stayed up past my alarm to finish this. I want those hours back. I really thought this was going to bring the story of Hades and Persephone to a nice close, nope. It just ended. Nothing. Like what happens now? Did they both finally set their differences aside and love each other? Or is there going to be another book? Please, it's killing me and I feel bad for giving this book a 3 star rating.

This story was absolutely amazing. Persephone went through so much in this book. I was surprised she managed to stay sane in only the first few chapters. I loved seeing all these different gods that weren't present in the previous books and seeing how they would interact with one another. There were times when I just wanted to yell at the characters for being so cruel.
I was afraid in the beginning of the book that the setting wasn't going to change for a while and that I would become bored. I am so glad that I was wrong. While the settings are a little bit the same, I was not bored one bit. Eventually, it did change a few times which helped the story along better.
I was surprised that, unlike the two previous books, this one came with three perspectives (Hades, Persephone, and Aphrodite). I had always wondered what Hades was thinking in the other books. You would not believe how excited I was to read from his point of view. He was my favorite point of view to read. Then, of course was Persephone's viewpoint. Aphrodite at points made me want to close the book for a second with her annoyance but there were parts when she seemed genuinely caring. My own belief is that she is a caring person (at least in this book) but has trouble completely staying in a way that will show that she cares.
SpoilerTowards the last few chapters of the book I wasn't completely agreeing with Persephone's actions. While I agree that she should definitely have killed Zeus, it seemed like a waste of time pummeling him until he found an advantage to go back and torture her again. I understand that she was angry but I feel like she should have spent a little less time just punching him and more of actually destroying him. I also feel that Hades should have jumped in sooner to help out. I believe he should have noticed that Persephone was not putting any progress towards ending Zeus. Yes, he was probably trying not to interfere and make things worse but I feel like there is a limit on when not to interfere.

All in all, this was a fantastic book that I will hopefully be reading again soon.
