I liked the theme and character and concepts introduced, but I would have liked it if the story had more space to develop and explore major events and what they meant to Binti. The ending where

Binti becomes fast friends with the jellyfish dude despite the very very recent mass murder

felt abrupt and underexplained, and really took away from this for me.

I'm definitely going to read the other installments in the series, though, and check out the author's other work too.

A quick sci-fi read with some fantasy notes. I really enjoyed this and am excited to read the others in the series. Interesting characters and plot. Mix of quick plot progression and introspection about identity and home.

Binti is the most lovable character, and the world of this book breathes with colour. I can’t believe such a short book had such an impact on me. Thank you for this beautiful taste of the world.
