I enjoyed the main character's arc. Parts of the book reminded me of Jamestown on PBC (I love that TV series btw).

I'm honestly amazed by how much I enjoyed this book. Every time I try to read these types I always get bored, but the author's writing style keeps you interested through every page. So much happens that by the time you finish you feel like you actually know the characters.
Adelaide starts off very selfish and arrogant while living with her grandmother, but you slowly see her transform into a smart and independent caring woman. With books that normally do that with characters they make that transition quickly and unrealistically, but in The Glittering Court the transformation seemed real.
This book is somewhat long and she definitely explains a lot of things in detail, but definitely worth the read. Can't wait to read the second one.

I don't want to give away any spoilers. But I love this book. At first I was like hmm I don't know about it. Because yes it's different from Richelle Mead's other series. But people look past it and read it as if you never read vampire academy or Bloodlines. You keep reading thinking come on just tell him already how you feel.. And then you think damn it's over?? I really want to read more books to this one. I want to know about the remaining girls, will they find husbands?
Because the bases for this book is the lower class learning how to be upper class and finding a rich or decent higher class husband.

The idea was fairly interesting. The characters were pretty cool too! I liked the character development in the main character. The time period really confused me.. obviously it’s older but there were some modern things too so.. what? It was also fairly predictable and juvenile. Fun read though!
I don't know why I waited so long to dive into this one I've always LOVED Richelle Mead. This was amazing listened to on audio the narration was spot on. I can't wait for book 2!
Meh. DNF I'm bored to tears, which is a shame because I've enjoyed Mead's other books. If your halfway through and really just don't care what happens to the characters or how things turn out, it's time to move on.
This book is brimming with potential but very underdeveloped... The story itself is very interesting, yet I feel that everything goes too smoothly and easily. The character relationships could have been explored more as well. Wish I could speak more highly :(
The Glittering Court viel helaas best wel tegen. Zeker gezien mijn belachelijk hoge verwachtingen.

Disappointingly average. Mead's legendary chemistry is not present here, it all felt so forced and unnatural. It is nice for a change to see an author leave its usual genre, but it did not work with this book.
Adelaide, the main character, is whimsical and stupid. She evolves, but it seemed forced to me. I didn't specially like any of the other characters either. They're not bad but... just meh.
The plot and the outcome were somehow predictable too, which definately did not make up for the characters.
On top of that, it all felt so frivolous. The struggles are nowhere near the reader, making me unable to connect with the characters.
It was well written and entertaining, but certainly not what I expected of one of my favourite writers.
