A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:

Rating: 3 stars out of 5

This story offers a glimpse of the life of gay men serving their country who were not afforded the same rights as their heterosexual brothers in arms, with whom they fought side by side.

This was a nice story that shows the difficulties of living with DADT especially when both people are in the military. And even if I didn’t like the actions of the characters at times I could for the most part understand them.

We see the story through Clay’s eyes (and a majority of the book he is single) so it makes it a little hard to understand Chevy’s feelings. Though I do understand that many soldiers push people they care about away when they are hurt. Clay was a bit too conceited at times and brash in his actions for me to really like him, I did like that he loved Chevy unconditionally even is Chevy didn’t understand that at the time. At least in the end they found their way together again.

The cover art by Joleene Naylor is nice and gives a good visual of the characters.
