Well-researched and engaging, the author (the head of the Humane Society of the United States) takes us on a journey to how the economy is already changing as a result of consumers demanding better treatment of animals and new technology that renders cruel treatment unnecessary. From cage-free eggs at McDonald's, to circuses without elephants, and pharmaceutical research without chimps, dogs or rats, the new economy is shifting in some amazing ways. A must read for anyone who cares about the environment, our fellow creatures, and a guilt-free steak.
