I read this when my son was in 3rd grade. His situation is much more mild than the children in the book, but it was still useful. Most helpful of all for us was the Dragon Brain / Wizard Brain bit, an extended metaphor that worked then for my Harry Potter loving child and works now, even though he's largely no long affected by significant anxiety.
This book was helpful to understand anxiety in kids. However, my purpose was to find out about anxiety in teens. I did take away some tips and ideas to use in my elementary school class.
Growing up, anxiety was all I ever knew. For as long as I can remember, it has been my faithful shadow. My parents read this when I was younger to try and help me as much as they could. A few years ago, when I was looking for books on anxiety, my mom suggested I read the one they read when I was younger. At that point in time, reading it was perfect. A lot of what this book said stuck with me, far beyond what other books on anxiety or mental health have.
