I was excited when I started this book... Great story about an amazing animal. Too bad it got stuck in telling the same story over and over- wish it had more to do with the tiger.

This book is not about hunting a man eating tiger, it's about Russian history. It is tangent upon tangent about everything except the main story.
informative slow-paced

While an engaging premise, you would be better suited to spend an hour online reading about this man-eating tiger in Eastern Russia than reading this book. This was a big stretch to turn this into article into a novel. 3.0

This was fascinating! While the author makes his point of view clear, I felt he did a good job of engaging with the myriad viewpoints on the topic of tiger conservation and how it may affect both the tigers and the people living among them. I also enjoyed how thoroughly we delved into the very human politics and behaviors that ultimately led everyone in the narrative to that final confrontation with the titular tiger. I absolutely loved those close-up moments of Trush and the tracking teams trying to understand each crime scene, with the tiger's ever-present gaze watching their every move. The tension was built spectacularly. Definitely recommend this!
