Really heavy first volume but I'm kind of expecting it to be hopeful in the end?

I'm sure that many people of all ages can relate to Tasuku's experiences with coming to terms with his sexuality as well as the bullying and self denial that he recieves as a part of that.
But what really makes this series beautiful is the recognition and acceptance between the characters. At the drop in centre characters such as Someone, Daichi and Saki recognise Tasuku's internal battle straight away as they themselves have faced similar experiences and through renovating old buildings they are able to give him the outlet of fear and anger that they were given. The imagery in this series is absolutely stunning, representing Tasuku's internal struggle as he deals with his growing feelings for Tsubaki despite being in detail so that his classmates will not endlessly hound him.
The exploration of Daichi and Saki's relationship was both heart-rending and beautiful as they learn to accept that even if their families cannot fully accept or understand their love for one another they can still celebrate their love by being happy together and getting married. It represents that even people who are open about their sexuality and are in established relationships still face discrimination from their family and other people in the world just for being who they are and being with who they love. Towards the end of the first novel Saki is able to be open about how she doesn't want to lose the loving relationship with her old fashioned parents but is happy with Daichi and does want to marry her some day.
I am interested to learn more about the other characters and see how their relationships with each other develop throughout this series. I loved it.

This series contains homophobia and transphobia in various forms; it is written very clearly from the experience of the people who are subjected to these things, and is framed as being wrong. However, it's a lot to digest and might be extremely triggering. It also deals with themes of inter-community discourse that may be upsetting.
