I tried for 30 days and finally gave up at the 70% mark. I thought about finishing it just for the sake of it but the time I’d spend to complete it would be wasted as I do not care about any of the characters, the plot, or their relationships.
Not gonna lie, this one has been my least favorite series out of this world so far. I don't really love the characters and the plot was kinda boring. I'm hoping it will get better since more vampires are coming to town.
I am liking this Magiford series so far and it reminds me a lot of Hall of Blood and Mercy which is my favorite of the trilogies so far. I love the pattern of virtuous magical humans amusing cynical old vampires and making them care.
Pretty sure this is my favorite of the Magiford series so far, precisely because it didn't follow the typical timeline (attraction in book 1, dating in book 2, fight and go separate ways at end of book 2, come back together in book 3 SIGH). No, this series focuses on mostly plot for the first 2 books. Plus, I liked the characters and there's plenty of humor sprinkled throughout. A fun, easy read.

I’m so glad to be back in Magiford! Though I originally thought this took place after the most recent books until I saw on her website it takes place way before (hence the clocktower about to be constructed!).
It was fun seeing characters again, Killian’s banter with Con was so much fun. He comes across as such a burdened guy haha. And that glimpse of Ama! Poor cat girl.
I also relate to Jade - definitely not in the physical aspect, but in her social anxiety and awkwardness! I love that she’s comfortable with Connor though I am nervous about what’s going to happen when she realizes who he is and that he’s been playing with her while she feels like he is one of her only friends. He is going to have some serious groveling to do
