"Alma" is a great novel: it is the story of provincial land, at a given historical moment, with its characters, its rhythm, landscapes, the river, animals, especially fish and birds, and a certain nostalgic halo of childhood, recreated by an intact, clear, selective memory, precise in the smallest details. There will be a temptation to identify 'Alma' with the city of Águeda: grave mistake, I think. 'Alma' is an excellent novel of genuine fiction, creative, original, transfigured".

Fez-me lembrar a minha terra.
