This was such a chilling and twisty read! Brilliant plot development and the way the story built was really good. I wouldn’t call the ending a plot twist but it still had me in total shock.

This book took me a while to get into but hot damn it gets really good about half way through and the ending is a mind blower.

Sara has become a more and more central character as this series progresses, with her backstory lending heavily towards each plot. Damn, this woman's lived an unenviable life (tbh, they all have). Old wounds are reopened when Sara's rape is potentially connected to another victim. Drawn back into her med school circle as she tries to seek justice for another young girl, Sara learns that there's something much more sinister going on; connections between cases, young women being targeted by a calculating assailant. But what ties her to them?

This one was well written but so upsetting. The twist was easier to predict than I might've thought, to the point where I guessed it and then told myself, there's no way this is it! Spoiler - I was right. All in all, not my favorite, but still another great one.

honestly my least favorite and the hardest to get into and get started of this entire series. it started off weird? in an alternate universe. i have had a compulsion to finish this series (of what’s published) and this novel i genuinely did not care about for the first 25% or so and couldn’t vibe with it. thankfully it’s one of the first & only books sarah and will get along with one another through the whole thing. also i love amanda. and faith. that’s all.

Per usual, nothing but five stars for Karin Slaughter and of course, Will Trent - and Sara! SO much Sara in this one, for which I am super grateful. This one was just as dark and twisted as the others, with some deeper levels of nastiness just to keep us guessing. Karin Slaughter does not shy away from the faults in humanity - especially men, and what they can do to women when exerting the power afforded to them. I absolutely devoured this book, and once I got to about 50%, I simply could not put it down and had to finish it.

This was, hands down, one of my favorite Will Trent books of all time. I was so excited to get an ARC of the audiobook (because Kathleen Early is an EXCEPTIONAL narrator) and the moment I went on vacation for work I started it and couldnt put it down. Karin Slaughter just gets better the more she writes. I cant put into words how much I loved the characters in this book. Not only Will and Sarah, but Faith and Amanda and even Jeremy now .. the cast of characters just keep getting better and better. There were times in this book when I was laughing so hard my husband thought there was something wrong with me (Thanks to Faith, mostly. She just gets funnier and funnier), and times when I was sobbing my eyes out (that would be Sarah…what she went through broke my heart). This was probably one of the best of all of Ms Slaughters books Ive ever read.

I want to say, without giving spoilers away, that as someone who has gone through SA, I think Ms Slaughter absolutely nailed the aftereffects of that tragedy… at least for me. I thought it was so brilliantly handled. Every time something hard comes up in these books, it’s handled with tact while also keeping me engaged. This was no different.

Between the mystery and the personal issues happening with our fave characters, this was a total slam dunk for me. I can not wait for the next installment, and im a little sad that im caught up with these books because Ive been reading them for so long and I dont want the series to be over… even if its only over until the next one comes out.

Also— as per usual, the mystery part of this case was so good. I was on tenterhooks the entire time and was honestly BAFFLED with the way it turned out. I honestly didnt see that coming. I just love watching how well Will, Sarah, Faith and Amanda’s brains work together and I love that Sarah was able to confront both her past and present at the end.. I think it was the perfect way to come full circle for her.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review

This was a solid thriller! What I loved most about it was how they portrayed how the justice system tends to treat victims of SA. It was honest, and even more important, showed that there will always be people who believe survivors and fight for them. I would have liked to have seen more of the punishment factor for the perpetrators - I truly can never get enough of that. I know it was briefly discussed and that it’s not necessarily the point, but survivors deserve to see rapists bear the burden of consequence.
