Holy shit that was a great book. A lot of detail and a little twisty twist at the end. Karin Slaughter never disappoints.

Yes, it’s graphic but it’s also one of the best as far as watching the relationships develop between all the characters. The end had me in tears. The happy kind! I don’t know what I’ll do when I finish this series because I love Will Trent so much.

Labeled as will Trent but is both he and Sara linton and mostly involves her backstory. A bit of a tangled web. Fun read

Four plus.
Karin Slaughter's books are always dark, and this one is no exception. It takes us back to Dr. Sara Linton's rape, 15 years ago, and the link between that terrible crime and its inception. All readers of Slaughter's Grant County series know that Dr. Linton was raped, years ago, with the perpetrator identified and jailed, but the backstory of that crime hasn't been explored until now, when Sara treats another rape victim in the Emergency Room.

It's a carefully tailored plot, with lots of detail, and an array of loathsome newcomers to Sara's/Will's stories, but not hard to follow. All the familiar characters in Slaughter's pantheon around Grady Hospital make an appearance at some point, and there are reference to their upcoming wedding. Slaughter's long-time fans will appreciate hearing from Sara and Will, et. al., again. I did.

Yay! They’re back to being excellent stories with well-rounded characters as opposed to being not-so-cozy cosy mysteries.

The title of this book should be trigger warning. There is a lot of rape and sexual assault and they do not hold back in talking about it. Some of the language was jarring especially since this was an audiobook. I enjoy Karin Slaughter's writing and I like the Will Trent series well enough. I think the way this circled all around to the past is more than a bit much but I was interested and I wanted to keep listening.

an interesting and multi faceted mystery. it’s a karin slaughter book so know triggers are needed. could’ve done without the last romance part and unfortunately i feel like the main character got the short end of many sticks but a pretty great book!

That twist at the end still has me shook. Eleven books in and I’m still loving the series!

Trigger warning for sexual assault, including graphic details, domestic violence. If you enjoy the Will Trent series on TV you'll already be familiar with the main characters. This was really hard to read due to the nature of the sexual violence and just how disturbing it was, and Slaughter spares no details. The real mastermind behind what happens will also shock you.
