Karin Slaughter does it again, an excellent read
Karin Slaughter has done it again. The latest instalment in the Will Trent series ticks all the boxes. I was so excited to read the next book in the series as I am a big fan of the books ( but alas not the tv series) The book starts of at a rapid pace and never slows down. I found it hard to put down as the writing flows so well. Without mentioning any spoilers, the book tackles the inherent subject of rape culture. It centres around a group of privileged white males that abuse their privileges to perpetuate a cycle of rape culture feeling they are so safe with their wealth and position. The main character Sara Linton, who all Will Trent fans know, has been through the awful rape scenario and can relate to the victim that is brought into the ER when she is in charge. This sets the ball rolling when she realises that the accused is related to an ex colleague who was about when she was raped and his doped up wife mentioned the rapes are related. The reason this was not a five star in my view is because the storyline was very similar to a book I recently read called The Sharp Edge of Silence by Kelly Rosenbaum.
