2.5 stars. There was really nothing to this book. I forgot majority of the plot. It really felt like a filler book than anything else. Majority of the time they were looking for something, and as usual they were not following command and violet thinking she is invincible, and Xaden doing everything in his power to stay away from her. (Insert eye-roll). Honestly was expecting something better, entertaining, and rememberable. I feel like Violet is getting no where, she’s supposed to be the strongest but she doesn’t do any training, and when she does i feel like she half ass it. I really wish she would get out of that mindset. In all honesty Violet could have beaten her at the beginning of the book if she realizes her own strengths. So that part if kinda getting tiring. Let’s hope she has major growth in the next two books. Also i’m tired of her talking about Xaden, and how hot he is. Like seriously girl we get it. Their relationship is getting kinda corny to me as well.

I took my sweet time with this one because I knew that there would be a wait for the fourth installment and I didn’t want it to end! By far my favorite of the series! So many answers where answered but I’m left with sooo many more!

I'll be quite honest, I thought about DNFing this a few times, but damn am I glad I didn't!!

Let me preface this by saying that I DID in-fact re-read Fourth Wing and Iron Flame prior to picking up Onyx Storm. While reading, I can admit that I felt like some of the information given didn't feel important or relevant to the story. Now that I've finished, I can happily say that I understand and I do plan to re-read this to pick up on everything that originally went over my head. The way Rebecca's tying all the books together is intense and it is a lot of information, but I think it's worth it (IMO). I finished this over a week ago and since then, I've spent a lot of time on Reddit looking at fan theories. I even started Fourth Wing again for a third time simply because I'm not ready to leave this world behind (for another 2 or so years).

Xaden and Violet both display so much character growth in this book. He's so open about his feelings for her. And the way Violet took charge in this book? She was a badass bitch. I can't wait to see what happens next!
