This book feels like the climb before a drop (but not the big drop) in a roller coaster. Just like Iron Flame, I feel that so much has happened in this one book it's hard to wrap my head around it, so I'll try to categorize it.

Xaden

My poor baby tried to stay true to himself the entire book. I wonder if a person's intention for pulling makes a big difference on how much of their soul is saved. My heart aches at where he at the end of the book, but I know it's necessary for the plot. The devastating poetry of pulling for Violet first and pulling completely for Sgaeyl. He loves his girls. He did turn for love. I am so emo. ugh when Sgaeyl was screaming for him to stop, ptsd fr from Iron Flame. I wonder if Sgaeyl will follow Xaden and if so, how does that work with her bond with Tairn (I know a popular theory is that Andarna broke their dragon mate bond and will forge it back later)

Violet

The discovery of her being touched by Dunne was an interesting way to explain her hair. We were all convinced it was venin related. Honestly, it still may be, because why in the world did her dad even need her to be dedicated in the first place? I don't think that was ever answered. Still curious as well as why Asher left everything for Violet and why Mira was the only one to be trusted, and if it was explained it def went over my head. HER SIGNET?! I think rn she can only walk in dreams because she has no control over it yet. My theory is that as she develops this signet she can just straight up walk in people's minds and manipulate their thoughts and psyche aka plant ideas in their heads and disguise it as their own -- think about how Andarna can make, bend, and break magic. If that's not the case, maybe she can kill people in their dreams and that translates as making them effectively brain dead in the real world

Gods & their respective islands

I love how they each have an island and we got to visit most of them. I think the concept was so fun. I think I def got lost a bit with some of the details. Traeger being killed?! Did not expect that. i was so sad for cat. I def have to reread this part because I feel like I missed so much. Also, Xaden's mom just being on an island?! I WAS SO CONVINCED she was at the top of the venin hierarchy.

Dain & Sloane

The parallels of their relationship to Violet and Xaden is so fun to see. When Sloane said "someone like you shouldn't have this much power" to Dain, that was really interesting and I'm wondering if Dain is hiding something. I wish we would get more scenes of them, maybe the next books we will.

Rhi

The perspective change was crazy, I was not expecting it. But the fact that it switched over to Imogen right after makes me think that it's a foreshadow that Rhi will die like Quinn.

Aaric

He made me laugh a bunch of times on how he is just so well versed in all the languages. Def royalty. The fact that him and Xaden seem to be buddies now... does it have to do anything with the fact that they're both bonded with blue dragons. Also him saying that he dies during this war and now that we know his signet... that's terrifying. I hope he lives. And Precog?! what kind of name for a signet is that lol

Who is the brother?

It has to be Bodhi. I think Garrick disappeared to help transport and keep an eye out for Bodhi so that he doesn't further pull or fall more venin quickly. I think Aaric stole the dragon eggs with permission from his mysterious blue dragon and transported it to that island as a bargaining chip to be allies

I am so mad that we didn't get to see their wedding, but I hope we get glimpses of it when Vi gets her memory back.
