Oh wow. I was apprehensive to read this after many mixed reviews but I am glad I did. I really enjoyed it, almost as much as the first one. There is world expansion, religion, travelling, we see more of so many different characters and some additional POVs, it is funny, and there are a lot of battle and dragon riding scenes. It does end on a massive cliffhanger so be prepared. Am I confused with so many different names for riders, dragons, locations and everything that happened? Absolutely. Will I have to read it again, physically next time to process all the info and make the connections? Yes, but still it was so much fun!

This is by far my favorite book in the series so far and I'm excited to see where it goes! The cliffhanger ending will make for an interesting plot of the next book.

God this was a chore to get through. I actually don’t mind the plot itself but everything around it is so tough to read. I can’t stand violet as a narrator and I don’t care about her and xaden so anytime it’s just the two of them I’m bored. There’s so many characters and I feel like I only really know a handful of them, the rest are just names thrown in that I can’t keep track of. Theres too much information thrown at the reader at once. I had to read the Xaden POV toward the end a few times and I still said “what the fuck is happening?” out loud. I do genuinely want to know what happens so I will probably read the next book but I’m not happy about it.

I wanted to love it but sheesh it was so slow compared to the first two books. I'm committed to the series but felt it lacked comparatively..
