That was a wild wild wild ride. I thought I signed up for a run of the mill marriage of convenience, damn was I wrong.

Royce played the LONG game. Wow.  There were times I doubted him and he scared me. I'm really glad he stayed true to the course.

McAllister. What. In. The. Hell. Is. Wrong. With. You. No means no and consent applies to everyone. Keep your hands, eyes, thoughts to yourself and maybe your wife wouldn't go psycho on ppl.

Speaking of Alice. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK. you slept with your stepson and husband's bestie?! Bc you didn't have your husband's attention!? You tried to poison and throw someone off a balcony? You cray cray.

Now Marist.... I forgot she was an adult at times. She's incredibly niave even for a privileged rich kid. However, the HBIC comes out in book 3. Sis played them all. Way to go girl.

Over all the series had me squirming and real uncomfortable. If she had consented with full knowledge of what would happen, I would've been on board. There were too many bait and switches. She was full on assaulted and it wasn't ok.

Okay, wow. So. I'm not entirely sure how to sum up this series other than: WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK.

I picked up this series because I needed an easy audiobook to keep me entertained while I was in the process of moving which, as we all know, is not fun. Umm, I was definitely entertained, though for all the wrong reasons?

I genuinely couldn't give you a positive attribute about any of these characters. The sheer amount of fucked up stuff that each of them did is enough to get them a lifetime pass into the best psychiatric hospital in the world. I understand that these books are meant to show that the filthy rich live by different rules, but honestly, the situations in these books are so far-fetched that I couldn't stop laughing.

Those who have read the book and are discussing whether they're Team Royce or Team Macalister...are y'all okay? We should not be rooting for either of these men (though yes, I'm Team Royce, don't @ me, I'm not okay).

BUT THE KICKER.
After everything that Macalister puts Marist and Royce through, the psychological and emotional torment, the bullying, crossing SO MANY lines...he ends up in jail after pushing his wife (who tried to kill Marist) over the balcony and MARIST VISITS HIM IN JAIL TO CONTINUE PLAYING CHESS???? I can't.

I don't know if I'd recommend this series, but I did binge it in a few days, I couldn't stop listening except when I actually had to, I needed to know how it ends, I somehow started picking teams...so make of that what you will.
