Two people, an actor and a geologist, who meet through fan fiction and cosplay, must navigate their secrets and the public eye to find love.

Marcus and April were so swoony.  This was one of those books that had all of the feels and I couldn’t put it down. The parent drama and the plus size representation were super relatable. Marcus keeping his fanfic writing secret had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Like did I see the third act breakup coming? Yes. Did I still bawl my eyes out? Also yes. I think both Marcus and April had some great growth throughout their character arcs and their relationship was so fun to watch blossom. I also really loved how it clearly set up the next book and am excited for their story too!

i just got so bored? i don’t know i feel like so much was introduced, and then only a few tropes or plot lines actually went in a good endearing non cliche way. i found myself rolling my eyes especially with the main male lead. he had a good set up with a disability, hard relationship with parents and the ableism that led to a fake celebrity persona but then his story was dominated too much on the perceived consequences of the public finding out his persona was fake and he’s actually smart?? really??

also really didn’t enjoy the random fanfics included in between chapters. either it was unnecessary, intriguing but only a glimpse at a fake story or the marc anthony one made me angry. didn’t need a peek at a MMC described misogynistic abusive story that he was disgusted by. even if it wasn’t the actual script!

wow that was long yeah just not for me

cuuuuuuuuuute. loved that it was basically a veiled reference to the last season of Game of Thrones

I was worried about me not enjoying romance anymore, but this was so sweet and touching. I am so happy I read this.ā˜ŗļø My only complaint, and it's a small complaint, is that the first sexy times came a little (and I do mean a little) too soon. I wanted just a tad more pining before the spice, but that is a personal preference. I definitely want to read this authors other works.

I couldn’t get past the audiobook narrator reading the AO3 handles. It drove me insane.

So cute! I enjoyed the not so subtle Game of Thrones hate. Marcus and April are adorable and I love the story involving mid/late 30s fanfic writers. You do what you enjoy. You be who you want to be...! :-)

Two stars because there were parts of this that I really enjoyed, but overall this just wasn’t very good. The writing was kind of confusing, the plot was a bit of a let down, and the forced fanfic pieces in here were just so unnecessary.

Sweet romance that was sometimes corny (esp that epilogue) but I overall liked it

La fin est terriblement niaise, ohlala j'ai eu honte pour eux et l'autrice
