Overall I liked the story, but I just can’t give a book four stars when one of the main characters is withholding information from the other for the majority of the book.

The first chapter was so long, and it took me forever to figure out what was happening and that we were on set for a movie. It just really didn't capture my interest at all. I found myself rereading the same paragraphs over and over again. If that was any indication for the rest of the book, I had to DNF it.

Look, it's a romance novel about fanfiction and fandom, I have no willpower, of course I was going to like it.

DNF.

I was SO excited for this book and the first half was great, but the protagonist was just so self-deprecating and kept jumping to the wrong conclusion and it ruined the book for me.

Spoiler Alert is a cute light read that unfortunately failed to hook me. It took me longer than it should to read because I couldn't find a reason to back to it. The narrative alternates between the main story and chapters with fanfics, scripts or conversations in AO3 between the MCs. These last type of chapters had a lot of potential to develop some depth in the main characters' relationship but ended up being random filler (once I saw that they didn't really add anything to the plot I skipped them). As much as I appreciate the representation of different bodies (we all know how much we need it) I felt a bit uncomfortable by some of the topics raised by secondary characters. Beware of food and diet content warnings! The main story felt a bit plotless... I really didn't feel much connection there and much drama after they get together. Again, I feel their past as fanfic writers could have develop their relationship in a nice way.
