I like this book, I just couldn’t really get behind the premise. I like Olivia dade’s other books, so I think it might’ve just been the plot that I couldn’t get behind. Overall, her writing was good as usual, and I always always appreciate the representation. It was fun, just not my favorite
Lovely fandom romance with two broken characters doing their best to communicate their needs and fulfill each other’s, while often getting it wrong. The final resolution felt a bit rushed, but the main characters - and all the supporting cast, for that matter - were well drawn, convincing, and just sweet. Loved the fandom setting and loved the commitment of all the characters to trying to be Good People.
It’s cute, it’s sweet, it’s predictable. It’s a nice palette cleanser after heavier books.
I loved April, our confident, strong, ACTUALLY PLUS SIZE main character. As light and cute as it is, it sheds a lot of light on the difficulties plus size women face in day to day life. I felt seen. It felt nice.
Not 5 stars because this felt like… fanfic written about fanfic? Don’t get me wrong, I knew fanfic was the basis of the book, I just didn’t expect it to feel like reading fanfiction.

Essentially a glorified GOT cast fanfic. And why is everything “round”?

I found this a quick and fun read but it wasn’t great enough to keep me wanting to read it constantly. I only finished it in 2 days because I have other books I needed to read. I found it a bit too underdeveloped but it’s still a good book
Oh gross. So many issues with this one. The way fatness is handled, the totally stupid and unbelievable characters - I mean, no way. Nope. None. Marcus is so unbelievable I can’t even. Also, I never thought I would say this, as I love to swear, but shit, this book cusses non stop. Get a vocabulary. Lord.
Some of the best fat rep I’ve seen in a romance novel! A love letter to fandom and fat women
Sweet and simple. TWO breakups? A little dramatic in my opinion but they made sense both times in the story. I thought the representation of a fat protagonist was good; there's a lot of skinnies in romance. April embraced her body, as did Marcus. It was a big topic throughout the novel, but it was more about April working through trust issues that arose as a result of her parents' treatment than her inner turmoil about the weight itself. Did that make sense? Basically, April never wavered on loving her body, no matter what the other characters did.
I've always been an advocate, in person and in fiction, that if parents don't treat you well you don't owe them anything and can cut them off with no judgement. I liked to see the protagonists start to embrace that over the course of the story. There were some awful parents in this. I know what amazing parents are like, so why would anyone settle for less.
I don't know why it threw me off so much, but when Marcus reveals he's 39 I was ?????. I don't want to say that the book would make "more sense" if they were 26 and 29 instead of 36 and 39, because that would undercut a lot of the story, especially in terms of April being afraid of her fanfiction interfering with her career. I don't know, it just caught me off guard.

Read for a bookclub. Very surface level and easy to read while I was going through a tough time
