I don't think I was entirely in the mood for this book when I read it but I still found it enjoyable. I admittedly ended up skimming a lot of it partially because of the medical content, but also because I

I'm really glad this is a book that challenges the "Not Like Other Girls" attitude without forcing Felicity to become more feminine than she is comfortable with, instead simply learning to understand girls can be intelligent and feminine and learning to support her more feminine friends.

I'm also really happy for Felicity being aroace rep, struggling with society's expectations for her to marry and bear children, but not being forced into a relationship at the end of the book.
That said I hope Sim gets to come back in future installments with a girlfriend of her own. I won't deny she and Felicity had some chemistry, but I'm glad that no side resented the other after discovering their orientations were incompatible and they were still able to be friends. I think that takes skill to pull off and the author landed it well.

"In the company of women like this—sharp-edged as raw as diamonds but with soft hands and hearts, not strong inspite of anything but powerful because of everything—I feel invincible."

I loved it, your honor <3

As far as I’m concerned, Mackenzi Lee can do no wrong. I really enjoyed this book. Tbh, my least favorite thing was the plot. Like the dragon thing was so weird??? But I loved the setting, the writing, and the characters. Felicity is such an interesting protagonist and obviously I LOVE monty & percy more than life itself. They are so sweet and the way that they both put their struggling careers on hold just to come find Felicity was the sweetest thing ever. Besides the dragons, there were some other things that bothered me.
1) Felicity’s characterization doesn’t quite match “Getting Lucky” bc in that, she is not at all homophobic, and she very explicitly speaks about sex with Monty, but she seems uncomfortable with the idea of sex in this.
2) She mentions being homophobic bc of the Bible, but she doesn’t mention all the sexism in the Bible. I felt like she should have mentioned that.
3) Felicity honestly didn’t seem as upset as I felt like she should be when she found out that her hero was a POS. He was basically her whole life’s inspiration and she was just like, a little bit mad that he actually sucked.

Much like the first book, it was enjoyable but not super memorable. I really liked some parts like when Johanna (Joanna?) called out Felicity about Felicity judging her intelligence by how she presents herself and acting superior because she doesn't like being hyper femme. I also liked how Felicity was on the asexual spectrum (with some attraction to women I think). Loved the smart girls kicking butt, adventuring, and just doing the damn thing but it wasn't anything stand out for me. I sort of glazed over/tuned out in some parts of the audiobook as it didn't hold my interest consistently like other books I've listened to.
