Spoiler: è andata male, malissimo, mannaggia a Addie.

Another fantastic book by a fantastic author - I was really interested to see what one of Victoria's young adult books would be like as so far I had only read her adult and middle grade.
It absolutely did not disappoint, the concept of this book - that violence breeds violence - was so well executed in such a unique way.
I also love her ability to give us characters that are always grey - and you can almost never tell who is actually going to be the good (if there's going to be a good guy at all).
While I can't say I prefer this to the Villians series it was definitely still a fantastic read and I can't wait to read everything else she writes. She's truly a master in her field.

“Monsters, monsters, big and small, they're gonna come and eat you all.”
The type of book that’s easy to read and can’t quite completely predict where the story is gonna go.
That ending,,,,, I must read more

I don't think I have anything bad to say. Like what just happened? I actually need time to just sit and think in a dark room for a bit. I don't think I can even move onto the sequel yet, I'm in such a book coma.

"As someone who had come quite suddenly into being, like the end of a magic trick, he feared the tenuous nature of his existence, feared that at any moment he might simply cease to be again."
The writing was good, and I liked the characters (Ilsa, you were my favorite). It's just that after reading the book, I didn't feel much of anything. I wasn't sad that the book ended, and I wasn't eager to start reading the sequel. I just found myself detached from the overall story.

I typically tend to find Schwab's long lead into exposition exhausting and lose my patience for the mystery, but in the case of this book, the payoff was well worth the wait! I loved this book, and I'm very excited to read the next installment.
