I liked the plot for this book I think it was really interesting. However, I don’t really like Sammy as a character. I find her to be annoying. She’s always so whiny and a bit dramatic and I think she’s a bit stupid (thinking the police are trying to help her when she’s a murder suspect and going to talk to them without her lawyer). For that reason I just couldn’t find it in me to feel bad for her and she cries so much that nothing felt like it was a big enough deal to warrant such a response. I’ve found her annoying in previous books in this series so this didn’t really surprise me.
The plot was good enough for me to over look that for the most part though so I did enjoy this book.

Honestly up to this book I've quite liked Sammy but let me tell you if a close friend of mine was being stalked by their boyfriend's ex, and their only reason for not telling said boyfriend was bc they "didn't want to be that kind of girl" who's "always drama" then they deserve to get accidentally framed for said stalker-ex's murder. Truly tstl.

This is my favorite book in the Cape Bay Mystery series so far. Solid set up and pay off. I enjoyed the fact that many of the main players in this book had been established previously.

I gave this 4 stars, but I think it is more like 3 1/2 stars. I didn't have any trouble spotting the murderer, when his/her story was revealed. Sadly this book lacked the details of day to day life in the cafe. This gave it a different vibe than the previous books.

The plot seemed very similar to the previous book in the series. That book took place in December before Christmas and this book starts on New Year's Eve. So less than a month has passed. But in Fran's memories it feels like it took place about a year ago. Particularly when she says that Sammy never asks her for anything. The only reason Fran looks into the murder in [b:Cremas, Christmas Cookies, and Crooks|36155195|Cremas, Christmas Cookies, and Crooks (A Cape Bay Cafe Mystery #6)|Harper Lin|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1504157668l/36155195._SY75_.jpg|57762966] is because of Sammy's begging and tears. I wish these books were spread out with more time in between them.

On of my pet peeves is that so many people use the diminutive of their name: Franny, Mattie, Sammy. It makes me feel like they never junior high. I'll continue with this series, but only after I take a break.
