Really slow to get to anything good. Lots of prep and moving in. First 100 pages could have been summed up in 1/4th of that. At the end, finally it picked up, but I wouldn’t recommend this one.
I love a good haunted house story and this definitely delivered. Besides the writing feeling a little juvenile the plot was interesting and I enjoyed the characters once they passed their one dimensional character archetypes and their personalities developed more. (The resistant and macho husband and the fearless female military veteran sister made me roll my eyes at first but they fleshed out pretty well by the end, the first part was a bit of a struggle though.) normally what I mentioned not liking above would have made me rate 3 stars but I had to give 4 because the scary scenes were quite good and that’s what I was really looking for. Not overly played out and paced fairly well it kept me reading the next chapter just to see what happens.

Following the story of two sisters who inherit a large mansion known as “Britain’s most haunted house” from their recluse of an uncle, Haunted: Perron Manor is a scary, eerie read that genuinely had me feeling spooked at times. I absolutely loved the build up and tension of this book. The characters have great depth and history with the manor, and the house itself a major character in the book. I did find however, that the ending really let down the overall rating for this book, there were so many questions that went unanswered, and I felt like I didn’t actually get any closure at the end. That being said, this is the first part in a series, so if I do get around to reading the sequel, perhaps there will be more answers in the future!

This is the most poorly written book I have read in a long time, and it was filled with well worn haunted house tropes, and the characters were borderline annoying, and I will read the next one knowing all these things.

The premise was good but the writing is just awful.
This book had a few creepy moments, but mostly it felt a bit like fan fiction. I hated Chloe. Seriously. Sarah and the husband were ok, but Chloe was just too mean. I finished the book, but I don't think I'll be continuing with the series.
Okay so this was a great haunted house book that I was not expecting to love lol The tension and pacing was awesome - which I find hard to accomplish in any kind of haunting books. I loved the details of the spooky scenes in this book too! Felt like I could envision the horrors happening at Perron Manor
