I quite enjoyed this book. It was short, easy to read and felt like a parable.
This book plays with the story that unfolds after death and discovers meaning of life after its end. My personal beliefs are that there's no life after death but Eddie goes on a journey in heaven where he rediscovers what his life really meant and is able to make peace with a lot of unresolved incidents. He gains a whole new perspective.
This explores themes of letting go, dealing with pain and anger, managing guilt and self blame and value of insight into a life satisfactorily lived. It emphasizes the role of forgiveness in moving forwards and generates empathy in the main character through added details of his culprit's life. Albom's story highlights hope in a down trodden and seemingly unsuccessful life.
However, I couldn't love it because story was oversimplified and unrealistic. The realist in me couldn't connect with it completely and kept waiting for complexities that my brain could mull over and appreciate.
But I might read more Mitch Albom in the future.
