Simple but touching. I’m not religious and I enjoyed.

“life has to end,” she said. “love doesn’t.”
absolutely loved this book. death and afterlife have always been interesting topics for me — oh, how it intrigues me. what we thought was only a fleeting matter, who would’ve thought of the impact of a mere stranger could be this big?

This book reminded me a lot of It’s A Wonderful Life and The Midnight Library (go read it please) which stick with me as some of my favorite media.
This book felt like I was reading (well listening to) a classic. Felt like the next Christmas Carol. The prose was so beautiful when read aloud and I love Albom’s voice for Eddy.
I love how Albom focused on the different people Eddy touched throughout his life. A theme which is seen in the two media that I mentioned earlier. This is a story everyone can relate to regardless of religion and culture while still being infused with white American culture (WWII, the Farris wheel, Christianity). Which, again, is what I think makes this story a classic. I can see it being read in an English class.
I wouldn’t have picked up this book if it hadn’t been a book club read. I’m glad I did but I prefer The Midnight Library or Before the Coffee Gets Cold. Great book to bring in the new year.
